At times known to be the “most unequal place in America,” Lake Providence, Louisiana, is to the outside world an embodiment of intrinsic dichotomy. Here there is wealth and there is want. There is beauty and there is decay. There is progress and there are naysayers. But through our lens and through the eyes of the folks who call Lake Providence home, we saw the richness of the place, the beauty of its history, and the progress it’s citizens together long for. We worked alongside members of the community to utilize design principals, combined with a desire to bring unity and progress, to rethink Lake Providence. From exterior renovations of historic buildings, to a re-imagination of downtown businesses, brands, and spaces, to community garden design, to beautiful, affordable housing opportunities, and more, we together looked for a path toward transformation and unification in this historic, South Louisiana levee town.
